English Standard Version Bible Daily Verse
Daily Manna from the Net [The Message]
  • Daily Manna from the Net for Friday, September 3, 2010 [1 Timothy 6:11-14]
  • -But you, Timothy, man of God: Run for your life from all this. Pursue a righteous life--a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. Run hard and fast in the faith. Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to, the life you so fervently embraced in the presence of so many witnesses. -I'm charging you before the life-giving God and before Christ, who took his stand before Pontius Pilate and didn't give an inch: Keep this command to the letter, and don't slack off. Our Master, Jesus Christ, is on his way. He'll show up right on time, his arrival guaranteed by the Blessed and Undisputed Ruler, High King, High God. He's the only one death can't touch, his light so bright no one can get close. He's never been seen by human eyes--human eyes can't take him in! Honor to him, and eternal rule! Oh, yes. 1 Timothy 6:11-14 The Message [MSG]

  • Hope for Our Families
  • If you have ever felt that your family is on shaky ground, you are not alone. Never has the family been under such severe attack. Our godless culture has jeopardized the family’s sacred foundation. Depression, despair, and hopelessness are common complaints among those willing to admit how they feel. Many are too embarrassed to admit they have lost hope. But, fortunately, the Bible contains a lifetime’s worth of reasons to have hope. more >>

  • Breaking Free of Cocoons
  • Secularism is the dominant philosophy of our culture today, and it is defined by the belief that each individual is the god of his own universe. But this philosophy, while a trademark of the 21st century, is by no means new.  In Paul’s day Christians were becoming secularized in both their thinking and practice in much the same way that Christians are today. That’s why Paul pleads in Romans 12:2 for us not to be conformed to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. He knew that if we were going to make a difference in the world, we would have to be different from it.

  • The Fruit of the Spirit
  • Whenever God does anything big, He does it through His Spirit. For example, when God created the Heavens and the Earth, He did so through the power of His Spirit. If the Spirit is capable of doing such huge things, just imagine what the Spirit can do in our lives – if we let Him. In this message, Jill encourages each of us examine our own life and see the fruit of the Spirit. This is the third message in Stuart and Jill's 10-message Bible study series on the Holy Spirit. more >>

  • Doing Right When You’ve Been Done Wrong Part 3
  • Paul unpacked the all-important virtue of love in the closing 13 verses of Romans 12. As he reached the end of this section, he addressed one of life's most practical problems: how to respond correctly to wrongdoing. His pen strikes like a needle as we read his words that touch an extremely sensitive nerve and expose our conditioned reflex to hit back. Common sense whispers, You need to defend yourself. Public opinion goes even further, shouting, Don't be a fool - get even! Like a rattlesnake, the flesh stays coiled within us, ready to strike. Even in our ranks as Christians, retaliation remains one of our favorite carnal sports. But, as we shall learn in this message, there's a supernatural alternative to our natural reaction.

  • Looking Up When you Hit Bottom
  • David said that he had dark thoughts and uncontrolled emotions. He loved the Lord, but all of the stress of the terrible plight he was in had drained him of all peace and joy. David had what is a common experience. He was swept away by his emotions. He couldn’t calmly reflect on the faithful hand of God in the past and feel the comfort of trusting the future to Him.
